Heard from a little birdie at the courthouse today that someone sued the Vicks yesterday. They did not show up and neither did their lawyer. They've hid their money pretty well. Vick started moving ownership of their properties last Jan. Preparing for what he did in June I guess...

We are previous cabin owners who had their cabins managed by Fontaine's over the years. Thank goodness we sold our last cabin about 4 years ago to use the money for the kids college. I truly feel for the owners and renters that either have no one to manage their cabin or who have rented a cabin, paid a deposit and are now out a good chunk of cash. This sucks! We've rented from Fonatine's many times over the years. I want to clarify that the Vicks bought the rental business from Annie Fontaine about 6 years ago. Annie and her team were great to rent from. Always positive, honest and willing to help. As owners we were sorry to see her sell the business because she was such a good person. We didn't have any bad dealings with the Vicks while we were owners, but I hate to see Annie's name tarnished because two people decided to NOT do the right thing. I hope justice comes to them.....soon!

I got a call a few weeks ago from the local DA that I had left a message for. He said there was nothing he could do unless charges were brought against the Vick's. I explained my situation to him and he said he would do some research and talk to the detective to find out why they were unable to locate the Vick's. I am sure that was another waste of time! On a side note I noticed on Libby Self Vick's Facebook page she has numerous posts about being a christian and one that said "With God, ALL things are possible!! Don't stop calling the DA or Det. Hodges! Don't feel it's a waste of time, the only waste of our time will be if we stop- then everything previous to stopping would have been a waste. The DA is a DA! and has the power to press charges. I hear the Vicks are out of town, but before a few weeks ago, people were seeing them all over- driving here and there and not sorry at all. What you say is true about some people thinking they've done nothing wrong and God will be help them. They have stated to people that they have worked hard all their lives and deserve our money~ they are just old spoiled children, this is what happens when you spoil children people- the entitlement mentality does not disappear magically at age 18. So keep calling and asking WHY WHY WHY can't you do anything? Truly the squeaking wheel gets the grease. Law enforcement will always have new crimes to deal with, so if you stop calling you will be forgotten. I won't stop- let's back each other up by not stopping! Even if there are just a couple of us... we just want our money. Why should I have to fight or spend more money to hire a lawyer to get what is mine? Don't give up my friend! Keep calling or it's all been a waste! I'll keep calling until I hear proof of why this is not a crime...

Wel I had never been to Tn. This would have been my family's first trip there and our first vacation in 3 years. It didn't happen and now I have accepted the fact that I will never visit that area and give them any more of my money. I just could not bring myself to hand over a deposit to anyone up there. I just could not do it! I know there are good people there but you know the old saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!"

No rumor or story someone told me in a phone conversation! So, go back and let Robert Vick blow some more smoke up you butt about how someone is out to get him. I have been a Owner in Cobbly Nob since 1996 and have (2) Excellant Homes with Greenbriar Valley! They have always been above board.honest, and work well with Owners and clients!!! They have probably 75 Quality Properties and All of their Staff does a Great Job!You should check them out for Quality Rentals ! I also, am aware of the Problems with some of the Agents of other Rental Agents that have been in the past , and some of those above comments were correct! Greenbriar Valley is one of the Top Rental Agency and Real Estate Office , especially for Cobbly Nob! There has never been any problems with them, as long as I have done Business with them!People should give them a try for Quality Rentals!!!

Ok, I cannot sit back and read these posts and not address some of the issues brought up. I had my cabin with Cobbly Nob for years and then with Fontaine Cabin Rentals. When Doug took over Cobbly Nob my cabin rentals dropped dramatically. I had friends call their office to recommend a cabin (describing mine perfectly) to rent. They always recommended the same cabins over and over. My cabin is a new cabin that is very well maintained, but they never mentioned mine. I found out the cabins they were pushing belonged to Cobbly Nob or people tied to them. After moving to Fontaine, I found out the same thing was occurring. I would go on their website and the cabins that were renting were older and out dated while mine stayed empty. I wonder who those belonged to? Yes, you guessed it. I was very unhappy with Fontaine just like I was with Cobbly Nob. Everytime there was a storm, I was charged 10.00 for someone from Fontaine to drive up the mountain and check for storm damage. Just imagine, with 30 cabins, you can make 300.00 everytime there is a heavy rain. (and in Gatlinburg that is quite often) I could go on and on but I think you understand what I mean. I was not the only cabin owner who was unhappy with them. These are not rumors, but true statements. I have not heard from any person who rented from Fontaine that received their money back.....so you can take up for these companies and people all you want, but many of us know the truth. and in case you were wondering....i did not move my cabin to Pioneer.

The only ones who have profitted from this fiASSco are the Vicks. The many people who have not had their deposits returned are the ones who have lost. It is not fair that the Vicks can keep money for a service not rendered due to the wording of the rental contract. Plus how many people were not able to enjoy their vacation since they had trusted Libby Vick and gave her, in good faith, their credit card numbers to place a deposit on the cabin they chose. Then minus that money, they did not have enough to rent another cabin or get a hotel room and still vacation in the Gatlinburg area. According to Tennessee state law. the rental cabin company reserves the right to substitute properties, provide alternative lodging or cancel reservation if for any reason beyond our control the property becomes unavailable. If cancelled, a full refund of the deposit will be made. Upon refund, all contractual rights and obligations are released. So how much clearer can that be one who calls names so easily behind your smoking mirror.

File your complaints with TREC. Vick will respond because it's his real estate license in jeopardy. Seems that is the only thing he responds to. File a CC dispute with your bank too. Many of us are or were past the cut-off time to file but due to the circumstances, that even my bank acknowledged, the banks may be more willing to go ahead and let your file your dispute. I have gotten my money back and so have a couple of other people I know. The Vicks evidently didn't even respond to my bank once I launched the dispute. At any rate, do not allow yourselves to be total Vicktoms. Take action on your own accord if you have not yet. File a complaint with the TREC. Be detailed and accurate. And file a CC dispute with your bank.

I stated the truth and that is all that is important. Here are a few more facts: I am not Robert or Libby Vick nor am related to The Vicks. I have no desire to ask Doug Sharp anything or listen to what “he thinks he knows!" I am not a fan of “a little birdie told me BS." Hard core, fact based, evidence will always triumph over BS. And fact based evidence is all that I am interested in pursuing. I will not repeat the vile rumors about The Sharps, their company or anyone else. I was stating that, if you did your homework you would know, the same type of lies involving bankruptcy, character, etc., were being told, not long ago, about The Sharps and their company. If you want know, just ask around…. there appears to be an overabundance of people willing to shares lies and innuendo. You are entitled to be jackasses. If any of you really wanted the truth you would stop repeating and sharing the vile garbage that is floating around and do your homework. Do any of you actually know the laws governing advance deposits for overnight rental companies in TN? It is very evident from your post that you are lost and clueless. I am sure Peggy, Doug and “others" just forgot to mention what they are when they were advising you the on The Vicks, the houses and “the situation." We all know how they like to be helpful so surely they would be happy to share them with you. Just ask them how it is outlined in the guest terms and conditions for their companies. I am a former employee of the Vicks. I was working for them when they closed down & they knew that were going to close down. They did not go about it the right way. I was off on the day they closed down & they didnt even have the courtesy to call me about losing my job until the following day. And then it wasnt even Libby that called, and she was the owner of the company & our boss. They had to know they were closing down before June 16th, because I received my check by mail on Thursday the 17th. (I received my check before I got the phone call.) We also had cabins owners tell us that they were taking their cabins off our rental programs & we were told to continue to take reservations no matter what the owner said. So basically they continued to take money for the reservations on our 3 nicest houses, which were our most rented houses, even though the home owners told us not to. I just wanted everyone to know how the Vicks truely are, & I'm just afraid that people will not receive their money back. I'm not a disgruntled employee, I am just a disapointed employee

Trust the Man? Never I would not trust one thing he touches in ministry without a line item accounting of the finances. and then you need to question everything... because he puts the flyers and postcards you get in the mail box 3 times a month under MISSIONS. yeah right, that is marketing. RC - you're absolutely right. That's exactlly what happens there. If you really pay close attention to all of the fund raising at The Gathering in Sevierville done by Gene Wolfenbarger you will see that there's never a detailed accounting of the funds distributed after the event. As a matter of fact, there's never been a detailed accounting of the funds for ANYTHING. That's what the problem is and that's why I left.

Amen to that last post ! I attended this past Sunday second service and the church was the fullest I've saw it all summer. I think we all go for the Lord but when Gene talked Slaves this past weekend you could have heard a pin drop.I know he's got to be reading these blogs and thinks hes still the one that knows more than we do. I go for God and my savior and I know who is in control of me. That's all you need to know is its you and God.

It has been almost a year and never has the church addressed the financial concerns of it's members. Sounds like they care about the people. I have never met another pastor that you have to talk to everyone else but he wont talk to you. He doesn't have time for his people, he doesn't care about anything other than your tithe and where it has been if you were not there. The Gathering Church is not about people, no where else can you email and call staff and have them ignore you and tell you repeated that they forgot, you do not forget about people if you are about THEM. truth is they are on eggshells constantly worrying about Gene Wolfenbarger. Gene Wolfenbarger is an overbearing man who demands things done for him. all this about a salary and Italian loafers, expensive cars and pools? Jesus walked as a humble man. A true servant, not demanding to be served. Jesus said i do not have a place to lay my head and Gene Wolfenbarger brags about how expensive his stuff is. Think about who Jesus was and is, is that anything like the pastor at the Gathering church in Sevierville? I think no. Is Gene wolfenbarger a man that resembles Jesus, I think no. Be careful following a man like that because you will become like what you follow. Please Dear God let them see the light before we have a community or narcissistic Gene Wolfenbargers walking around Sevierville.

I was among the first group of worshippers at the Gathing in 2000. Actually, my family served on Gene's staff. After reading your most recent comments, I can tell you all that you are on track with this man. He is all about money, all about show. Those who were not his "yes" men in 2000, did not stay at the church for any length of time. And it is definitely "Gene's church." It was that way then and I have no doubts that it's the same way now. His sermons revolved around how wealthy his wife's family was, his mama, his coon dogs, and how he knew Jerry Falwell. God's people, beware!!!

You only mentioned Warren and Bobby - both great guys but what about Seth, Joey, Scott, Guy, and Chuck? It's kind of weird to have that much turnover when 'great things are happening at the gathering'. Beware if you are planning on making them your 'church family'. Doesn't it all just seem weird? I'd love to know more about what's going on.

I emailed the GATHERING about Bobby. I said that my wife and I had not seen Bobby for most of the summer and we were wondering about him. The answer was from Pastor DavidS. He stated that he would love to meet me and discuss this matter. WELL, this sounds mysterious. What is wrong with a simple answer??? My inference is that Bobby got tired of being a "Yes" man and left. And just like Warren, the Gathering will have a line to give me about how Bobby went to other endeavors led by God.

Bah, don't worry about them. My guess is that, for most of us, whoever offers the best price with a view will get the most business. Then if the amenities and customer service are good we, the customers, will keep coming back. I hope ALL the rental companies will remember that.

I was on the inside and I don't know if that is true or not. The 'bylaws' are not talked about nor were they ever 'voted on'. The entire management team is made up ONLY of people that will agree with Gene that HE alone is God's man to run this church and that HE deserves to be treated and compensated as the 'annointed and appointed one'. There are no votes to change anything because it is set up as led by one man. He will say that he has a management team of appointed leaders but all they are is a group of 'yes men'. Typically, they are the biggest givers therefore they believe everything that Gene says. It is NOT biblical nor is it healthy.

I do not attend the Gathering but know some that do. A few years back when we were praying about going there someone told us (not an "ex" but a current supportive member) that in the bylaws of the church it states basically "no Gene, no Gathering". If he goes the Gathering is no more. Plus everything is in his name. That totally gave us red flags therefore we did not continue to visit (among other reasons). I can't believe that is true. How could any group of people agree to that and how could anyone ask them to? So unbiblical. Does anyone out there know if this is actually true? We were told this by someone who loves the Gathering and was on the "inside" so we had/have no reason to think it was made up but I've always wondered if somehow it is wrong.

Gene's blog says that 'great things are happening'. I swear, that's all you ever hear him say. I believe that he does not have the ability to believe things are the way that they are. It's pathological narcissism - very dangerous. He's begun to believe that all of the spin that he puts on everything is the actual truth. Not only that, he gets his staff to believe and support him in it and then it spreads to the congregation. Here's a good one: Bull**** - it starts in our pulpit, it spreads to our congregation and it's the only thing responsible for ruining christianity. How's that for a tagline ....

I counted heads in the second service quickly. One section numbered 70 so that would equal around 300 for that service. That is a long ways from 1500 for both services.

I was a member of The Gathering when it very first started at Southern Nights. I believe at that time Pastor Gene had a heart for God. Somewhere along the way he has forgotten this..but good luck saying that to him. He will just ignore you or say you are crazy. As long as you can tithe or like most of these posts say "drive fancy cars or wear expensive clothes" then he likes you and will talk to you. Other than that forget it! He doesn't care!! People this abuse has been going on for years now!! Are you just now catching on? What did it take? The $250K salary, the Italian Leather Shoes? Gene made $100K 7 years ago, which made him the highest paid Pastor in Sevier County. I was also part of the ministry...and to see what goes on behind closed doors would amaze you...trust me! If you ask anyone who has left there who will actually be honest with you, they will tell you its all a sham. As the Bible says...your sins will find you out! Thank goodness I was able to listen to my heart and know what Gene is doing is wrong and one day he will have to answer for that!

I am fully aware of Gene's ways and do not concentrate on giving to his fund or the church. I know God well enough and he knows me well enough to understand I love the singers there and the good days that Gene talks about the Bible and not money or his shoes,clothes,dinners,trips. I know and trust the Lord will take care of Gene. Karen is a sweet woman and I do feel for her married to a man that has became money hungry and using the Lord's house to do it in. God will take care of him, just trust him to do it.

He said that this issue is a civil case. A lawyer is needed to handle the case and if the judge finds for the renter or renters the Vick will have to return the deposits plus pay court cost and lawyer fees. Now this sounds promising. Maybe Mr. Stapleton would represent the renters with the understanding his fee will come from the Vicks. I am hoping he will agree to that. I left a message with him to discuss this matter. My nephew is wreary of the ordeal but if this is possible I am sure he will want to help the other person on here for both of their causes.

My parents saw the Vicks over the weekend at the castle as it has been rented on regular basis,along with critter's Lodge. If the police had a warrant they could pick them up many day at the guard house as they enter. The only other acess is through private property owned by the Sharps. How can this man still serve as President of the Water department. On Facebook Libby is now using her maiden name which is Self.
