Brad Ivens (Eagles Ridge) and Chuck McCarter (Oakhaven) are the ones who had the Tennessee law changed in 2003 that allowed rental companies to blow away their escrow accounts! It makes it appear that they spent all their escrow money and couldn't withstand an audit - so, they went to Nashville and 'took are of it'. It's now 2011 and one could say this experiment is not working and that TREC needs to put the law back the way it was and FIX THIS!

I'm sure they are. They are renting again. Someone in the community hired Robert as a broker... They've had no repercussions for their actions. Never paid anyone back, have a new job, new rentals that no one knows it's the Vicks they may be giving business too. And he's is still Webb Creeks president... I think he's just fine in the community.

I see that Hickory Mist did it again. They rented Maranatha Cabins for the weekend and did NOT get the road from the highway to the cabins treated for snow. Or even plowed. The renters had to carry their luggage, supplies, and food to their cabins. The road is ONLY 200 hundred yards long that needed to be taken care of. Renters, you need to rent cabins in Cobbly Nob. They plow and treat the roads in this subdivision.

He always says how he gives 30 percent and more of his income to the church (which cleans it from income tax) but, what people don't see is that the church pays for his gas, his truck, his wife's car, going out to eat, clothes, etc ... i didn't say that i had it i said that i have seen it. i have given alot of money to gene in the past. much of it was supposed to be for things that were advertised and never delivered. when i saw the expenditures my jaw hit the floor with the wastefulness. if everybody was given a complete detailed list of expenditures, or at least a group of elders nominated and voted on by THE PEOPLE of the church then there would be no question now, would there? the management team is a joke. wake up and open your eyes - ask for a complete financial disclosure. To be a member of the evangelical council for financial accountability it is a strict guideline. the gathering is NOT a member of ecfa .... draw your own conclusions but please do so from an informed perspective.

He just raised tens of thousands of dollars (maybe even hundreds) under the deceptive statement of helping orphans and building a church in haiti. i would bet that a full financial disclosure would show that all of the money was given to the lords child which is used as a slush fund to be used however gene wants .... i gave at a chest of joash two years ago that was supposd to be used to build the retreat center - where did that money end up?

The chest of joash just took place at the gathering. they say that all the money goes to 500 orphans and a church in haiti. i would ask to see it. giving the moeny to the lords child for them to 'take care' of 500 orphans is not the same thing. many statements made from the stage are meant to be deceptive on purpose. why has nobody asked for full financial disclosure? why did they only respond with aggresive threats about suing the people that had seen what they had done?

I think they were too busy to talk to the "little people" who they took rental income from. I talked to another cabin owner (with Fontaine) and their 3 cabins were with Fontaine for over 3 years and they had never met Libby Vick. My only contact was the reps who answered the phone in the office. I did not lose any money but so many renters lost their advance deposits they paid to the Vicks. I also sent many documents to TREC regarding the Vicks when they closed the doors. How in the world can anybody say "we" are all making this up and starting rumors? I am so ashamed that I was ever tied to this rental company and Libby Vick. I feel bad for everyone who has lost their money by going with a company that was reputable MANY MANY years ago when the Fontaines owned it.

Deer Crest in listed in the Pioneer Rental portfolio of cabins. Cajun Hideaway and Cloud Dancer's owners both left the care of Libby Vick so I doubt if they would go back for more of the same crap that Libby is so good at giving out. (for instance, charging 1/2 hour labor to the owner for a drive-by to make sure a limb is NOT lying on the roof)

The messages aren't 'prosperity' like you see on the tv shows but it's not far from it. He's very good at making you believe you are doing The Lord's work but just because he backs his claims with one sentence from The Bible does not mean that his messages are Biblical .... I heard recently that all of this year's chest of joash is going to help orphans. I say prove it. Show where each exact penny goes directly to an orphan. He will probably give all of the money to the lord's child citing that it is the same thing but it's not. The finances are NOT legit and the gathering does NOT have any oversight in the spending by the congregation.

Well~ I'm the person who sued, the company Fontaine Cabins was in a sub-name Trees to Green LLC- Roberts name was not on anything to do with the business, Libbys was. But the only thing I could sue under the law was the Trees to Green- the only property they left under that name was the office- they let that go into foreclosure- so there was nothing to go after. Other properties that were under that Trees to Green were moved (name change) last Jan. to hide those from legal action. It is hard to understand that you can win a lawsuit but never be paid- but it's all about who's name things are in. He knew how to protect himself under the law. If something had been in the name of Trees to Green, then you could force them to sell that if they did not pay us. Because of the sub-company we could not sue them as R. & L. Vick- So we have a win and a were awarded three times the amount they stole under the TN consumer protection act, but we'll never see a dime no matter what they have personally. Of course they'll never put any property in the name of Trees to Green again- if they did we could get paid- but that is the only way. The attorney general is the only one who can take criminal action- but without VOTERS in his district requesting this of him- that won't happen either.

Don't give those words another thought everyone! As we all know from checking in over the years, we did not even know the Vicks. My wife and I did not even know when Anne Fontaine changed into Robert Vick. In all those years, we were never greeted by Robert or Libby Vick- let alone thanked for our repeat business to their company. Get your key from an check in lady and head to your cabin. We kept coming back because we loved two cabins on their rental program-not because we had fond memories of time spent with the Vicks. If that person was a renter and "spent time" with the Vicks they were also friends. Which explains the reason they think what they did was somehow justified. Think of it this way, think of what they stole from us without even a telephone call- What kind of people are they right? So just think of the lies they tell their friends and family to make it appear that they are the ones who have been wronged. There are a lot of a**holes in the world, who wants to believe your own family or friends fall into that class. If you've been to TN lately, you know what has happened to their reputation- and that is with people who have know them for years! Feel sorry for them(the posters defending the Vicks), they are being taken too- not financially but emotionally. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

As did we all!!! How do you think we lost money- we'd been staying with them for years too. We are not happy their out of business- we paid our money and just wanted to stay in our cabins. I also sent business their way, because I loved the cabin! You check in and your on your own- it's not as if we got to know the Vicks by staying there often. I knew the office girls- maybe, but not the owners. We did have three cabins we loved over the years that we had reservations for that we had to change "because they left the rental program" but after this happened- I found them on other cabin companies sites. I never questioned it before, but for some reason they left Fontaines and went with another company. When that happened before, I use to think the owners retired and moved into them- I guess there was more to it. One thing I'm thankful for, was I also was not one of the people who showed up to a closed office with no where to go. The world can be very forgiving when asked. Remember how everyone said the best move for Hugh Grant was to go on tv and face the music- he had no backlash for that whole thing b/c he showed he was human. People who admit guilt have an easier time. Some people only see their little bubble and don't think they do any wrong, or affect anyone else. We may not ever know how- but what comes around goes around, I just hope when it comes around to them, they KNOW why and don't think- poor me what have I ever done? Don't overact anyone- I only wish them exactly what they've done- not aids or something evil- just money to be stolen, that should have been in an escrow account or something similar

I only come on here now and again to see if anyone has any advice on how to get my money back or to see if anyone has had any success with them or gotten a check from the Vicks as one letter in June stated we would get- it is so upsetting to read people defend them. It actually really hurts. We are not just one single cabin renter angry at a company. Last year when my husband and I were about to walk into the office, a couple with a baby came out and were so angry and wanted their money back- something about the cabin not being safe for their child. The husband was so angry at Fontaines I was a little scared. They were not getting a refund. We listened, but still checked in and made reservations for 2010 before we left- when one person is angry you wonder, but when it's hundreds with the same issue- come on! I send best wishes to all those in this economy still holding out hope for a refund. xoxo
